v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA lovely early 19th century Swiss 18 karat gold snuff box with makers mark ‘AM’ – pale & cobalt blue enamel decoration over chased gold work of flowers and leaves with a shell shaped hinged top.
Geneva circa 1830.
Box does not have gold marks but has been tested through Spectrometer and registers 18.6k gold with 14k solder. It’s not unusual for early gold boxes to not be gold stamped.
Christie’s have had several Swiss gold snuff boxes with the same unidentified maker “AM” pass through auctions over the years.
