Early 20th Century “Boy and Ox” Bronze Figurine on Marble Base
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA fanciful bronze figurine of a boy playing a flute while sitting on the back of a reclining ox. The bronze is mounted on an attached marble base. The scene may be of a famous story as I’ve found several versions of a boy playing flute on the back of a bull or oxen.
The sculpture is not signed but is nicely cast and good quality.
The base measures 7 1/2 inches long x 3 1/2 inches wide. The figurine with base is 5 3/4 inches tall from the top of the boy’s head to the bottom of the base.
Both the figurine and base are in very good condition.
