Early Spode England Porcelain Trio – 2 Cups, 1 Saucer – “Japan” Pattern, c. 1820

A lovely early (c. 1820) Spode England porcelain trio, consisting of a tea cup, coffee can cup and a saucer in the “Japan” pattern.

The cups are interchangeable with the saucer.  The saucer is deep for spillage.

The 3 pieces have a white background with lavish, colourful decorations in red, blue, green and orange with gilt accents. The rim of each piece is painted in orange.

The tea cup is 4 inches wide from the rim to the edge of the cup handle. The cup is 2 3/8 inches tall. It is marked “967” on the bottom.

The coffee can cup is 3 3/8 inches wide from the rim to the edge of the cup handle. The cup is 2 1/2 inches tall.

The saucer is 5 1/2 inches in diameter with deep sides.

There is some age wear to the orange paint on the rims and the coffee can cup has some small chipping on the underside of the base. Overall, though, this set is in very good condition for its age.
