Elegant English Coalport Hand Painted Floral 17 Piece Dessert Set – Signed F. Howard – c 1900

This is an English Coalport dessert set consisting of 1 very large oblong pedestal compote, 2 ornate rectangular cake plates with handles, 2 ornate square cake plates with handles and 12 ornate round dessert plates – 17 pieces in total. Each piece is grey and white and heavily adorned with gold work but what is truly remarkable about each piece is the elaborate hand painted floral bouquets & sprays on the centres and rims by the renowned artist F. Howard. Various colours and different shades add a wonderful depth to each piece.

Marked:  Printed crown mark used between 1891-1920, England, Coalport, A.D. 1750, 6919/c.

Large Compote Measures: 18 inches long x 9 inches wide x 8 3/4 inches high.
Rectangular Cake Plates Measure: 11 1/4 inches long x 7 5/8 inches wide.
Square Cake Plates Measures: 9 5/8 inches long x 8 inches wide.
Round Cake Plates Measure: 9 inches in diameter.

Condition: Considering all 17 pieces only 3 have noteworthy condition. The compote is heavily crazed, as is one plate (which should not be seen as damage but as an imperfection of the maker’s glaze and due to their age) and one square cake plate has an old professional repair using staples. Contact us if you have further questions.
