Elegant & Timeless French Empire Style Neoclassical Mahogany Vitrine Cabinet by High Quality Buenos Aires Manufacturer Glaser, Fine Mahogany Crossbanded Veneers, Gilt Bronze Mounts & Large Glass Panels, Mid 20th Century

This elegant Empire style mahogany vitrine cabinet by Glaser, dating to the mid-20th century (circa 1950), is a finely crafted example of European revival furniture, designed to emulate the refined neoclassical aesthetics of  Empire French cabinetry. Glaser, a Buenos Ares company operated from prestigious locations like Florida 568 and Tucumán 650, was part of a golden era in Buenos Aires when local workshops produced world-class “furniture of style” (muebles de estilo) for the city’s wealthy upper class. While the firm is no longer in operation, their pieces are now sought after by collectors in Argentina and internationally as high-quality vintage reproductions of European classics.

Beautifully constructed in richly figured flame mahogany veneers, the cabinet showcases exceptional grain patterns, carefully bookmatched across the surfaces to create a symmetrical and visually striking effect. The case is further enhanced with crossbanded borders and a lower panel featuring geometric parquetry, demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The upper section is fitted with large glass panels on the front and sides, allowing for full visibility of displayed objects, while the three interior glass shelves are adjustable providing versatility for displaying porcelain, silver, or decorative works. The cabinet is accented with finely cast gilt bronze mounts, including fluted corner details and a classical swag motif, all inspired by the French Empire style.

Raised on elegant tapered legs with bronze sabots, the vitrine maintains the clean, architectural lines associated with neoclassical design. The overall construction reflects the quality associated with mid-20th century South American manufacturers such as Glaser, who produced high-end reproductions of European antique furniture using traditional materials and techniques.

Practical, decorative, and timeless in design, this cabinet is ideally suited for both traditional interiors and more contemporary spaces seeking a classical focal point.
