English Majolica Pottery Covered Cheese Dome and Stand, Attributed to George Jones, c. 1875
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA beautiful English majolica pottery covered cheese dome and pedestal stand, attributed to George Jones, c. 1875.
The dome and stand have a light blue background and are colourfully decorated with berries, blossoms and leaves. The interior of the dome and the topside of the stand are painted purple and there is a yellow rim on the dome. There is a brown and white sitting cow on the finial of the dome.
The dome measures 11 inches tall from the finial to the rim and is 8 3/4 inches wide. The stands measures 11 inches in diameter and is 2 1/4 inches tall.
Note: there is crazing and cracks on the topside of the stand as well as some minor chipping and a hairline on the underside of the stand. There is also a small chip on the tip of one of the cow’s ears. The rest of the dome is in good condition.
