Lighting, PorcelainsA French Art Nouveau, circa 1890, porcelain “vase ” lamp that is exquisitely hand painted with style elements from the Art Nouveau and Sevres porcelain period. Signed by the artist A. Collot to the lamp’s hand painted mid body vignette.
The porcelain mid body of the lamp has elegant curves depicting figurative female nudes and cherub themes. The small oval porcelain shade “finial” has romantic hand painted female figures . The use of gold gilt adorns the bronze mounts. All of these elements are characteristic of the Sèvres style porcelain.
Art Nouveau style influences shown here include raised gold decorations, creating a sense of depth and texture to the stylized floral and plant motifs, all hand painted with gorgeous “flowing” lines. These areas create a wonderful visual aesthetic supported by a textural gilt bronze base.
