19th Century Flame Mahogany and Satinwood Humidor Box
Furniture, GeneralA wonderful flame mahogany and satinwood humidor box with brass hinges. Inlaid on the top with corner shell designs and inlaid on the top and front of the box with a centre Georgian shell in an oval.
The box sits on 4 bracket feet. Opening of the lid reveals an open space.
The box measures 12 inches long x 6 1/4 inches wide and is 6 1/2 inches tall from the feet to the top of the lid.
Some condition is noted. Overall, the box is in good condition.

A handsome small server with 2 shelves and a three section cabinet on top. The three sectional cabinet consists of 2 display cabinet sides, each with a front, side and glass shelf, and a middle section with an inlaid decorative door that when open, reveals an interior shelf.
The cabinet is made up of a ebonized walnut highlighted with a lighter burled ‘yew’ wood inlay and string satinwood inlay – the contrast of light and dark is typical of the Aesthetic movement of the mid to late 19th century – a rebellion Art movement against the fussiness of the heavy Victorian designs.

An unusual Queen Anne cabinet with an early 18th Century lowboy married with a later upper cabinet in the same burled wood with Chinoissere hardware. The lowboy dates from the period (circa 1760) and the upper cabinet that slides in on top dates circa 1890.
It wasn’t uncommon to adapt older pieces of furniture to suit a more updated need in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Quite a beautiful marriage.
Measures: 38 inches wide x 19 inches deep x 62 inches high.
