French Cameo Glass – Perfume Lamp by Charles Schneider “Cocotiers” – signed “Charder, France”
Art Glass / Crystal, LightingA finely executed French Art Deco perfume lamp in layered cameo glass, decorated with stylized floral motifs in deep aubergine-brown against a vibrant orange ground. The design is acid-etched and hand-finished, creating strong contrast and depth typical of quality French cameo glass from the period.
The lamp works by the bulb heating up the glass and a small amount of liquid perfume is placed on the top. The glass gets heated and gives off the fragrance of the perfume in the room.
The cameo pattern is called “Cocotiers” and was only produced between 1927 and 1928 by the Scheider factory.
Signed “Charder” in cameo — the mark used by Charles Schneider — with “France” acid-etched beneath. Produced circa 1925–1935, this piece exemplifies Schneider’s distinctive Art Deco palette and form.
Mounted on a decorative metal base, originally intended as a perfume or night lamp, and today an elegant decorative accent.
Measures: 6 3/4 inches high x 5 1/4 inches wide.
