Greiner & Holzapfel Volkstedt German Bisque Porcelain Figural Grouping Centrepiece – “Venus Clipping Cupid’s Wings”

A gorgeous German bisque porcelain figural grouping titled “Venus Clipping Cupid’s Wings”, showing Cupid having his wings clipped by a seated Venus, with another maiden looking on, while breaking his bow and arrows.  The form is taken from the Meissen grouping designed by C.G. Juechtzer in the 18th century.

The grouping is marked R1762 in a blue underglaze. It is attributed to Greiner & Holzapfel Volkstedt (19th Century).

The grouping stands 10 inches tall and is in excellent condition with no visible damage.
