Handsome & Functional Victorian Silver-Plated Tea Urn /Kettle on Integrated Stand, by Respected John Round & Sons, Sheffield, Circa 1850

Victorian English silver-plated tea urn/kettle by John Round & Sons of Sheffield, a respected 19th-century manufacturer of quality plated wares. The faceted tea urn is richly engraved with decorative panels and fitted with a hinged lid to include a bone finial, and a shaped spout, all raised on its original integrated stand with ornate cast feet. The serving tea urn rests on a stand with 2 hinges that allows it to be suspended and can be tipped forward for pouring. The design prevents the server from having to lift a heavy, hot liquid-filled tea urn.

Stamps to the base refer to the makers and ” EP ” , indicating electroplated silver over copper. The tea urn retains its oil burner with wick holder,  designed for heating water at the table. This form of kettle was popular during the Victorian period for tea service.

A handsome and functional piece of 19th-century Sheffield plate, suitable for any table display or collection.
