Impressive French Bronze Tazza with Symmetrical Handles & Neoclassical Style – Limoges Enamel Portrait Plaque, 19th Century
GeneralImpressive French bronze tazza, featuring twin handles to either side with a Limoges hand painted enamel plaque.
The tazza, is a shallow dish mounted on a bronze circular base or foot and used for serving. Crafted from bronze, with detailed decorative “motifs” in circular banding that surround and frame a central roundel of a beautifully hand-painted enamel plaque. A technique for which Limoges, in south western France, is well-known.
The decorative elements, such as the bronze formal, symmetrical handles and the Limoges hand painted classical profile of the woman in the central plaque, align more closely with the Neoclassical style and aesthetic from the 19th century.
