FurnitureAn an exceptional French ormolu-mounted parquetry vitrine display cabinet, circa early 20th century, measures 5.6 feet tall x 5.75 feet wide. The cabinet features 3 glass front doors, with a symmetrical “breakfront” design inspired by classical architecture. Beautiful detailed wood parquetry veneer of different tones and grains form repeating geometric and linear patterns that frame the entire front glass doors and cover the sides of the cabinet as well. Elegantly formed gilt bronze (ormolu) circular florals and vertical leaf tendrils decorate the front and cap the 6 feet. A thick piece of bevelled “rose” coloured marble on top is like “icing on the cake”. The interior of each of the 3 display sections are lined in a cream watered silk fabric, allowing for adjustable shelves and a hidden storage area at the bottom.
