An impressive antique Wave Crest opal glass jewelry or dresser box by the C.F. Monroe Company, dating to circa 1900. The sculptural cream-coloured opal glass body is decorated with delicate hand-painted sprays of pink and white flowers accented with pastel blue and gilt scrollwork.

The box is fitted with an elaborate gilt-metal hinged mount and raised on ornate gilt-metal feet. Opening to reveal a gathered peach silk-lined interior, apparently original.

A particularly decorative and substantial example of American Wave Crest art glass from the late Victorian period.
