Born in 1895 in Vaucluse, France, the artist went on to study under Pierre Grivolas at the School of Fine Arts in Avignon, where he was encouraged to paint en plein air. Vidal mainly exhibited in Avignon and the Paris Salons. He died in 1966 in Avignon, France.
On the back of the canvas is the number “161” as well as a stamp reading “G. Vidal France” and the artist’s mark. In addition, there is the stamped phrase “Reproduction Interdite” – translating in English “Not to be reproduced”.
