Large Statue in Bronze of “The Equestrian Statue of Marcus Aurelius” Standing upon an Inscribed Mottled Alabaster Base
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA wonderful large statue in bronze of a Marcus Aurelius seated on his horse. The statue is on an etched and inscribed mottled white alabaster base. The title “The Equestrian State of Marcus Aurelius” is an ancient Roman Equestrian statue on the Capitoline Hill, Rome, Italy. The original is on display in the Capitoline Museums, with the one now standing in the open air of the Piazza del Campidoglio.
The bronze is of excellent quality. Unsigned.
The statue and base measure 24 inches tall x 13 inches wide from side to side. Please note that there are two repairs on one edge of the base but, the statue is in excellent condition. Please see photos for repairs to base.
