Late 19th Century ‘Sevres’ France Hand-Painted Porcelain Hinged Box, Bronze Fittings, Signed by Artist

A wonderful late 19th century ‘Sevres’ France hand-painted porcelain round box with a hinged lid and bronze fittings.

The box has a cobalt blue background with gilt swirls around the lid and body of the box. Inside the white interior, there are sprays of flowers on the underside of the lid and on the centre of the box.

In the centre of the lid is a hand-painted scene showing a man and a woman sitting together in a pastoral setting. The painting is signed in the lower centre “Hqsoit?” but it is difficult to clearly distinguish the second letter of the name.

On the underside of the box is a Sevres porcelain maker’s mark.

The box is 5 1/2 inches in diameter across the top and stands 3 1/4 inches tall. It is in excellent condition.
