GeneralLustrous and textural gilt bronze casting with exceptional detail and craftsmanship in the champlevé enameling. Champleve is an enamelling process where a recess is etched, cast, or carved into the body of the metal substrate ( in this case bronze) to be filled with frit (coloured glass powder) and fired. Champleve is one of the oldest decorative enamelling techniques seen across cultures, and it was embraced by designers in the nineteenth century.
French gilt bronze from the mid 19th century where the words “miniature and champleve” just adds to the luxury. Superb quality!
