Maltese Sterling Silver Miniature Filigree Carriage

This is a Maltese filigree carriage made from 925 sterling silver and beautifully handcrafted with intricate filigree curtains and roof, along with finer details including lanterns.

The traditional “horse drawn carriage” was a popular means of public transportation in the Maltese islands, introduced to Malta in the mid-nineteenth century, c. 1856, and can still be hired today in Valetta as a taxi service or for a sightseeing tour.

The carriage is hallmarked with the Maltese cross in a circle, 925, S (date) and JK (the maker’s initials).

The carriage measures 3 inches in length X 2 3/4 inches tall.

It is in excellent condition.
