Marvellous French Gilt Champleve Enamel Four Glass Mantel Clock Garniture with 2 Urns, by famous Samuel Marti , circa 1860

Architecturally styled French gilt champleve enamel mantle clock garniture with two urns, circa 1860. The clock has a four glass rectangular case standing on a stepped champleve decorated base with turned metal beaded feet. Beautiful blue champleve and architectural corner pillars with gilded and champleve domed capitals, repliccated in the domed “roof” top . Gilded dial with champleve enamel centre and Arabic numerals.  Two fine lidded vases with finial tops and side pieces with blue champleve enamel decoration complete this garniture.

Eight day movement marked “Samuel Marti”, a renowned clockmaker, who established his business in 1841 in Montbéliard, France, known for its clock making tradition. He was active in Paris in the second half of the 1800s, exhibiting his clocks there and receiving awards.
