Outstanding 19th Century French Bronze Tazza Dish by Ferdinand Barbedienne
Art, GeneralA glorious Roman-classical style decorative bowl, cast in bronze. This antique coupe is signed by Ferdinand Barbedienne (France, 1810-1892). In the center a circular relief of horse riders from the classical Roman era surrounded by a contrastingly smooth rim of bronze and two beautifully curved and scroll decorated handles. The bottom is amazing in the level of decoration featuring fine scrolls and heads of the god Bacchus. Made in France, 1870-1880.
Ferdinand Barbedienne was a highly important bronze founder and one of the most historically important French artists at the end of the 19th century.
