Titled ‘Sunset Sails’, ‘Rolling Up To London’ & ‘Journey’s End’
A lovely collection of 3 framed watercolours by A. Vincent, depicting journeys on the high seas. Each painting is wood framed under glass with a visible 2 inch mat. Each water colour contains a unique narrative featuring sails, the sea and clouds. ‘Sunset Sails’ depicts a two sailboats and a island with a lovely sunset scene, ‘Rolling Up To London’ is a Australian Clipper battling rough tides for the journey home, while in ‘Journey’s End’ there is calm waters with three ships returning home from a voyage, one getting a tow to shore. The three painting create the perfect nautical vignette.

Note: Two hang horizontal and one hangs vertical.
Excellent Condition: To my eye these paintings are of original colour as far as I can tell, the mats are a beige/off white and the backs are covered with paper that has not been removed since framing .

A beautiful portrait study of ‘A native american girl’, coloured oil pastel on paper, by the American artist, Hugo Robus. It features a gestural drawing study of a young native girl with nice facial features, dressed in fine ceremonial wear with a charming ribbon hair piece. Signed H.E. Robus (Hugo Robus 1885-1964) – by the carved frame and subject I would dates this as early 20th century.
Robus is very well know for his modernist bronze sculptures which bring at auction in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Large British Oil Painting on Canvas dated 1867 – Paul Falconer Poole (1807-1879)
A beautifully painted full body portrait of a woman standing by British artist Paul Falconer Poole. Paul Falconer Poole was a English subject and genre artist of the 19th century who exhibited his first work at the Royal Academy when he was 25. Great depth in the foliage behind the woman and lovely facial features. Framed in a heavy gilt wood and gesso frame with R. Jackson & Sons – Liverpool framer’s label on reverse.

Paul Falconer Poole was largely a self-taught artist, born in Bristol, the son of a coal merchant. He exhibited his first drawings and paintings in Bristol, but in 1829, after an inspirational trip to Italy, moved to London and the following year showed his first work The Well: a Scene at Naples at the Royal Academy. In London he found success in painting dramatic historical scenes, and in 1846 his large canvas Visitation and Surrender of Syon Nunnery (now in Bristol City Museum & Art Gallery) led to his election as an associate of the Royal Academy.

French, 24 inch High Bronze ‘Triomphe des Arts’ – Statue of a Woman with Lyre – Signed ‘A. Gaudez’.
A classical bronze statue of a woman holding a turtle shell lyre in tribute to ‘Triomphe Des Arts’, (possibly Venus) dedicated to the new arts in the public sphere, inspired by love.
Features two inscribed plaques ‘Triomphe Des Arts Par A Gaudez Hors Concours’, and then a presentation plaque reading ‘Le Comite de la Ste De Secours Mutuels De La Ville De St Die. Ason President Pierre Hirsinger 28 – 7 – 1925’ done in 1925. The figure would be dated earlier than this in the 1880’s.
