Pair of Beautiful Quality – Large Decorated Yellow French ‘Sevres’ Porcelain & Bronze Table Lamps – circa 1860.
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA beautiful quality pair of yellow porcelain ‘Sevres’ table lamps with shades and acorn finials. The lamps have bronze fittings and bronze bases with “handles” of women figures. The porcelain lamp bodies are decorated with hand painted panels of figures on the front and sprays of flowers on the back sides. The lamps are lavishly accented with burnished gold leaves.
The yellow porcelain is quite rare. The lamps were originally large French Urns that have been electrified at some point in the early 20th century which was a common occurrence to repurpose items when electricity became more widely used.
Each lamp measures 33 inches tall from the finial to the base and the base measures 5 3/4 inches square.
Note: one of the lamps has a professional repair on the backside to cover a hairline.
The other lamp is in excellent condition.
