Timeless & Storied Pair of Greco-Roman Italian Neoclassical Style Lamps, Fabulous White Porcelain Two Handled Urn Lamps with Relief Bisque Porcelain Portrait Busts of Julius Caesar & Calpurnia, Circa 1900-1930

Elevate your space with this pair of early 20th-century Italian Neoclassical style lamps. Crafted from fine white porcelain, each lamp features a classic twin-handle urn form decorated with bisque cameo busts of Julius Caesar and his 3rd and final wife, Calpurnia. She is specifically remembered for her fabled clairvoyance, having famously envisioned the events of the Ides of March in a prophetic dream. These portraits serve as timeless symbols of Roman authority and domestic loyalty, rendered in a matte “biscuit” finish designed to mimic ancient marble.
These grand-scale fixtures are designed for impact on consoles or side tables. The lamp bodies are further enriched with raised floral garland reliefs and scrolling handles, all set upon intricately perforated brass bases. Both are in very good to excellent condition, with one of the lamps showing only a minor hairline crack of 1 inch in the shadow of one handle and not at all noticeable. These storied pieces are more than just lighting; they are sculptural conversation starters, and a  sophisticated addition to a variety of decor styles from eclectic modern to traditional interiors.
Celebrate the grandeur of the Greco-Roman historical tradition.
