Pair of Large 20th Century Chinese “Nine Peaches” Tianqiuping Vases
Oriental / Asian, PorcelainsA fine and impressive pair of large Chinese porcelain Tianqiuping vases, each beautifully hand-painted in enamels with the celebrated “Nine Peaches” design — a symbol of long life, fertility, and abundance.
The decoration features ripe peaches on blossoming branches, accented by finely detailed leaves and flowers in green, yellow, and pink enamels over a cream-white ground. The design, wrapping fully around the bulbous body and slender neck, exemplifies the refined balance and auspicious imagery of traditional Chinese porcelain art.
The Tianqiuping (“heavenly globe”) form, with its globular body and tall, narrow neck, originated during the Qianlong period (18th century) and remained a favoured shape for decorative presentation vases through the 20th century.
