Pair of Walnut Bergere Armchairs, Carved French “Louis XVI Style”, early 20th century

A lovely pair of early 20th century bergere armchairs, French “Louis XVI style”, in carved walnut. The generous and elegantly arched seat back that has a carved wood trim extending around the entire perimeter and even on the uprights,  joining it to the seat frame below. The gracefully formed armrests are padded and carved to include the front apron and all four legs, subtly unified in its flowing design. The reupholstery is a handsome rich burgundy fabric with linear stitching. The most generous and comfortable pair of bergere armchairs, seating that will grace any room.
