v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA wonderful sterling hallmarked and Celtic decorated Scottish silver dirk / dagger with a patterned ebony and leather scabbard and a serrated stainless steel blade. The end of dagger is decorated with a faceted stone that looks like a citrine.
The dagger scabbard is English sterling hallmarked on the back and also is stamped “Made in Scotland”. Hallmarks date the dagger for 1894, Edinburgh.
Silver maker: Thomas Kerr Ebbutt
Manufacturing jeweller, St David’s Square, Edinburgh. Ebbutt started work in 1896 and died in 1921. His company continued in business until 1977 when it was bought by Hamilton & Inches. H&I continued to use the TE mark until c2000. Registration remains current.
The piece measures 7 3/4 inches long and is in great condition.
