Signed, Hand Carved Asian Netsuke of Japanese Woman in a Kimono, Holding a Scroll with her Left Hand

Here is a wonderful carved and painted Asian Ivory netsuke of a Japanese woman in a traditional kimono, holding a scroll in her left hand and holding a fold in her dress with her right hand – circa 1890-1910.

A netsuke is a small sculptural object (carved button-like ornament) worn for hundreds of years in Japan as a functional and aesthetic piece and used to suspend articles from the sash of a kimono.

The netsuke is signed in Japanese letters on the underside.

Please be aware that this piece cannot be exported out of Canada as per the CITES treaty.

It measures 3 inches tall x 1 1/4 inches wide and is in excellent condition.
