PorcelainsLuxurious and stately French porcelain centrepiece in the Sèvres taste, Circa 1900. Decorated with a finely hand-painted romantic pastoral scene after 18th-century French fêtes galantes, set against a rich cobalt “bleu de roi” or “king’s blue” ground with extensive hand-applied gilt decoration.
The piece features impressive symmetrical ornate gilt handles with “Greek key” motifs , a gilt beaded rim and a large gilt rosette centred in the tazza style bowl. The pedestal foot is raised on a square plinth base. Marked “Made in France” to the underside, indicating manufacture for the luxury export market during the Belle Époque period. In excellent condition.
The striking scale and high-end quality of this luxurious centrepiece porcelain in the French Sevres “revival style” or “Empire taste” adds a palatial and stately accent to any large display table or mantelpiece.
