Timeless & Architectural French Bronze Dore Dressing Table Mirror Signed by Parisian Maker Victor Saglier (1809–1894), Gorgeous Bevelled Mirror Plate & Hinge Easel Stand, 1870 -1890

,

A fine 19th-century French gilt bronze dressing table mirror by the Parisian maker Victor Saglier (1809–1894), dating to approximately 1870–1890. The mirror is elegantly framed in richly cast with a refined beaded border and an architectural arched crest, resting on small ball feet and supported by a hinged easel stand to the reverse allowing the mirror to be adjusted to different angles. The frame contains its beveled mirror plate, a feature commonly associated with high-quality French mirrors of the late 19th century.

The reverse bears the maker’s stamp “VS”, confirming manufacture by Victor Saglier, a respected Paris bronzier and silversmith whose firm produced luxury decorative objects, dressing table accessories, lighting, and ornamental bronzes during the Napoleon III and late Victorian periods. Saglier’s workshop was known for its high level of casting and finishing and supplied elegant objects to the Paris decorative arts market during the second half of the 19th century. With its clean classical lines and fine gilt bronze construction, this mirror reflects the refined taste of the period and would originally have been used on a lady’s boudoir or dressing table. Measuring approximately 21.5 inches in height, the piece remains a handsome and practical example of French decorative bronze work from the late 19th century.
