Furniture, GeneralThis is an English “country house” or more like “country estate” sewing box. A large English, mahogany and silk “ladies work” box, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820. The mahogany shows fine grain interest and deep russet hues with a gorgeous light mint green silk lining. The beautifully figured hinged lid is a dashing accompaniment to the deep compartment below with generous space for wool, twine or other embroidery items. The silk is finished with bands of matching brocade trim. This is a gorgeous sewing box, with appealing colour, quality finishes, solid joints and construction. Ready for all your home sewing projects.
