Victorian Era England, Prestigous Royal Crown Derby, Exotic Turquoise Blue Porcelain “Cabinet Vase” with Gilt & Painted Colourful Floral Decoration, Circa 1892
PorcelainsRoyal Crown Derby produced porcelain like this piece in the late 19th century that were heavily influenced by the late Victorian Aesthetic Movement and Orientalist styles. This exotic turquoise blue “cabinet vase” features intricate gilt (gold) decoration applied on the distinctive turquoise-blue ground with the overall effect contributing to an Orientalist style. The body of the vase is covered in a detailed, gilt scrolling floral design featuring large paisley-like motifs as central elements with secondary colourful small flowers. The neck of the vase has the gilt applied in a twisted, rope-like pattern with small gilt C-shaped handles.
The turquoise and gilt front is in excellent condition, with a “rubbed” reverse where the gilt has “worn” due to age and display conditions. A striking and unusual exotic piece, circa 1892.
