    A lovely carved and painted Japanese ivory netsuke of a standing man holding a covered urn in his left hand and a knife in his right hand, with a monkey standing in front of him.

    A netsuke is a small sculptural object (carved button-like ornament) worn for hundreds of years in Japan as a functional and aesthetic piece and used to suspend articles from the sash of a kimono.

    Dates circa 1900

    The netsuke is 2 inches tall x 1 1/4 inches wide and is in overall good condition, although there is a slight crack in the back.

    Here is an adorable small, carved and signed Japanese ivory netsuke of a man sitting with his legs crossed and holding a hammer upright in his right hand. There is lovely detail on his robes and hat and hammer.  Dates circa 1900.

    The netsuke is signed on the underside with an Asian character and the letters “AP”.

    The bottle has a white background and is decorated with 4 different scenes showing blossoms on branches, Chrysanthemum flowers, bamboo leaves and branches, and flowering plants. The lid is painted in blue and has a cork stopper.

    The bottle and lid are 3 3/8 inches tall.

    Both the bottle and lid are in excellent condition.

    Chinese Painted Porcelain Snuff Bottle with Wooden Stopper & Bone Spoon

    A lovely antique Chinese porcelain snuff bottle with a wood stopper and bone spoon attached to the lid.

    The bottle has a white background and depicts a warrior with his sword on one side. The other side has a red wax drop imprinted with Chinese characters, possibly the name of the artist.

    The bottle with the stopper / spoon inside measure 3 inches high. The stopper /spoon by itself is 2 1/2 inches long.

    There is some age wear to the features of the warrior and a couple of chips, including one on the body of the bottle and one at the base.

    Here is a lovely large Japanese hand-decorated charger plate, 17 3/4 inches in diameter Kakiemon style from the Arita area of Japan.

    The outside of the charger is decorated in blue on a white background while the interior is wonderfully painted with designs in pink, red, green, yellow, grey, black, and brown on the white background.

    The charger is in excellent condition.  An label on back from a previous retailer shows “Arita 17th Century”

    Measures 17 3/4 inches diameter.

    Old Chinese Porcelain Snuff Bottle with Purple Glass Lid & Attached Bone Spoon

    Here is a lovely old Chinese porcelain snuff bottle with a purple glass lid and attached bone spoon.

    The bottle has a white background with a scene painted on each side. One side shows a piece of fruit resting on bamboo leaves and branches; the other side shows an old man beside the piece of fruit. On the ends of the bottle are painted animal heads and rings to denote handles.

    On the underside of the bottle are the carved initials “W. M. H. K.” which may be representative of the artist’s name but it is unknown.

    The bottle with stopper / spoon inside are 3 inches tall x 1 3/4 inches wide. The stopper / spoon by itself is 2 1/2 inches long.

    There is some slight wear to the painting of the old man but, overall, the bottle and stopper are in very good condition.

    Here is a lovely Japanese bronze urn, c. 1850-1860, on a stand. The urn is wonderfully decorated with animal faces at the tops of the 4 feet, insect handles, a phoenix on each side of the body of the urn as well as other scrolls patterns and other decorations.

    The urn is 13 1/2 inches tall X 4 3/4 inches in diameter at the base.

    (Please note that there are some light scratch marks on the bronze near one of the handles, on the stand near one of the feet, and on the inside of the upper rim)

    Japanese Kutani Porcelain Plate with Serene Landscape and Gilt Scalloped Rim

    This is a traditional Japanese Kutani porcelain plate with the maker’s mark on the underside. The plate has enamelled, painted scenes of the Japanese countryside, depicting two houses on opposite sides of a river connected by a bridge with mountains off in the distance. The plate features soft pink bushes to brighten the landscape and decorative gold accents on the entire plate and on the scalloped rim. I believe this plate dates from the Meiji period (1864-1912) circa 1890

    Measures: 8 3/4 inches in diameter.

    The plate is in very good condition.

    Condition: Excellent, no chips, cracks or repairs.
