Quality French Boulle Marquetry Writing Table – Brass Inlay and Tortoise Shell with Gilt Bronze Mounts – c.1860

A fantastic quality French bronze mounted Boulle writing table with tortoise shell veneer and brass inlay.  All four legs having beautiful quality bronze Lady heads, the legs having decorative bronze feet and bronze trim along the entire perimeter of the table.  The table also has one drawer.  The table is decorated all around and could be placed in the centre of a room.

André Charles Boulle was a French cabinet maker in the early 1700’s known for his marquetry work of inlaying brass and tortoise shell.  The style was revived again in the mid-19th century.

This piece dates from France circa 1860.  Napoleon III period.

Measures:  50 inches long x 33 inches deep x 31 inches high

Elkington & Co. Asparagus Tongs Pierced & Engraved in Silverplate w/ Crest of Lion on a Tower Rampart

This is an impressive English asparagus tong by the renowned maker Elkington & Co. out of Birmingham England that features a pierced design accented with linear engraving and a crest very similar to the Middleton crest that has a lion upon a tower rampart.  It is silver plate and the handle is in the tradition fiddle shape.

Marked:  E, M, & Co., the date letter “X”, and the shield mark of a crown over E & Co. for Elkington Co. that was used from 1842 – 1864.

Measures:  10 1/4 inches long x 2 3/4 inches wide.

Excellent Condition: Crested and has a covered spring mechanism.
