The painting is taken from Titian’s painting of the same name – The Penitent Magdalene is a 1565 oil painting by Titian of saint Mary Magdalene, now in the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg. Unlike his 1531 version of the same subject, Titian has covered Mary’s nudity and introduced a vase, an open book and a skull as a memento mori
The painting with frame measures 35 1/4 inches wide x 42 inches high. The painting itself is 28 inches wide and is 35 inches high.
At some point, the painting has been relined but, overall, it is in very good condition.
