4 Pieces (2 Plates, 1 Bowl, 1 Cup) of Early Royal Doulton “Bunnykins” Bone China, All Signed “Barbara Vernon”

Here are 4 wonderful pieces of early Royal Doulton “Bunnykins” bone china, all signed by Barbara Vernon. Barbara Vernon (Sister Mary Barbara Bailey) was a nun and  artist and was the daughter of the General Manager of Doulton in the 1930s. She gave her illustrations to her father for use in the Doulton tableware production and they were used from the 1930s to the 1950s.

The 4 pieces consist of 2 plates, a bowl and a cup.

One plate is 6 1/2 inches in diameter and shows a bunny smoking a pipe outside the front door of his home. The second plate is 8 1/2 inches in diameter and shows a bunny conducting a bunny band.

The bowl is 6 inches wide and depicts a male bunny tipping his top hat toward a female. The cup is 2 3/4 inches tall. One side shows a bunny playing the horn while two others are skipping. The other side shows two bunnies on a bicycle.

All 4 pieces are in a cream coloured background and the scenes of the bunnies are quite colourful. Each piece has a circle of running rabbits around the rim.

The underside of each piece shows the Royal Doulton maker’s marks and reads “Bunnykins”.

While there is some age/ usage surface scratches, overall the pieces are in good/ very good condition.
