Adorable Meissen Hand Painted Porcelain Figural Group of Two Children, Circa 1890

,

Adorable Meissen hand painted porcelain figural group of two children modelled by August Ringler (1837-1918) who studied at the Industrial School in Nördlingen and worked at Meissen from 1856 until 1904 designing dozens of figures in rococo style. The Meissen repertoire of figurines had a huge influence on other European porcelain factories and the porcelain figure is a defining object for the Rococo period.

Here we see the 19th century c.1890, little boy embracing the little girl, who wards him away, with her hands upraised. The circular design and hand painting are exquisite along with the gold-heightened rocaille plinth complete with a bouquet of flowers.

This “adorable moment” captured by a great master of Meissen figural porcelain is a worthy addition for any collection.
