General, JewelryA fine late 19th-century American 14K gold match safe by Geo. C. Shreve & Co., San Francisco, richly decorated with pierced and engraved scrolling foliate ornament.
The front is embellished with a small trefoil cluster of three faceted gemstones in clear, red and blue tones, diamond, ruby and sapphire. The reverse is engraved with an elegant period monogram, while the hinged lid continues the elaborate openwork decoration and is fitted with a suspension loop.
Marked GEO. C. SHREVE & CO. to the inner rim. Tested 14k gold.
