Edmé Samson & Co. – French Porcelain Hand Painted Figure – 14 inches
Figurines, PorcelainsA beautifully painted French Samson figure of a woman clutching her blanket wrapped around her body – her feet and and legs are bare – most likely representing “Winter”.
The figure is in deep pinks and purples over a white tree trunk base with an urn on the bottom with orange flames.
The Samson company mark is on the underside of the figure.
Edmé Samson was born in Paris in 1810. His company Edmé Samson et Cie was created in 1845. The manufacture, which continued production until 1969, is known for copying designs of other porcelain makers. Samson Ceramics copied designs by Chelsea, Meissen, Sevres as well as many Chinese export porcelain items.
