An elegant and most decorative Italian late 19th century alabaster pedestal column. This is beautiful “grey veined” hand carved alabaster pedestal has an octagonal lower base plinth with a secondary round element. The shaft is neoclassical style from the fluted straight linear patterns below to a “greek key” pattern or “meander” above, culminating in the square top.

A wonderful neoclassical design which draws inspiration from classical Greek and Roman art and architecture.
