French Gilt Bronze Jewelry Box with Centre Portrait Painting of ‘Marie Antoinette’ on Ivory & Brocade Interior.

A wonderful patterned bronze box with 4 ball feet and a hinged lid that is decorated on the top with pearls and blue cabochon beads. In the centre of the lid is a portrait of Marie Antoinette. Her dress and hair are decorated with different flowers.

The interior of the box (both top and bottom) is patterned brocade in blue with sprays of red flowers and green leaves.

On the bottom of the box is stamped “Made in France”.   The portrait is signed N.L.

The box measures 5 3/4 inches square and is 2 1/8 inches tall.
