General, Oriental / AsianA beautifully carved set of Seven Japanese Gods – carved in Rosewood and Ivory – all standing in a line on a rosewood base. In Japanese culture, the Seven Lucky Gods are a group of deities that represent good fortune, prosperity, and happiness. They’re called Shichifukujin (七福神) in Japanese. Each of them symbolizes a particular kind of blessing:

Ebisu (恵比須) – God of fishermen, merchants, and good fortune. Often depicted with a fishing rod and a large fish (usually a sea bream).

Daikokuten (大黒天) – God of wealth, commerce, and prosperity. Often shown with a mallet and sacks of rice, standing on bales of rice.

Bishamonten (毘沙門天) – God of warriors and protector of the righteous. Often shown in armor, holding a pagoda (symbol of treasure) and a spear.

Benzaiten (弁財天) – Goddess of knowledge, art, beauty, and music. The only female among the seven, usually depicted with a biwa (lute).

Fukurokuju (福禄寿) – God of wisdom, happiness, and longevity. Known for his elongated head and accompanied by a crane or turtle.

Jurōjin (寿老人) – God of longevity. Often confused with Fukurokuju, he is depicted as an old man with a long white beard, carrying a staff and scroll, often accompanied by a deer.
- Hotei (布袋) – God of contentment and happiness, often referred to as the Laughing Buddha. Depicted as a rotund, smiling figure with a large belly and a sack of treasures.
Each figure is signed with on a rectangular ivory inset into the wood.Please note this cannot be shipped out of Country.
