Large Daum Nancy Art Nouveau Cameo Glass Vase with Linden Leaves, Circa 1910 – 19 3/4 inches

An impressive and unusually large Daum Nancy Art Nouveau cameo glass vase, dating to circa 1910.

Standing an exceptional 19 3/4 inches high, the vase has an elegant elongated trumpet-form body rising from a rounded circular foot. The warm translucent amber and golden-yellow glass is overlaid in deep brown and intricately acid-etched with an all-over naturalistic design of linden branches and leaves.

The foliage cascades around the upper portion of the vase, with individually articulated leaf veins and delicate branching creating considerable depth against the luminous amber ground. The rich dark overlay continues into the foot, providing a dramatic contrast to the lighter body.

Signed in raised cameo “Daum Nancy” with the Cross of Lorraine.

A particularly striking large-format example of the naturalistic glass for which the Daum brothers and the École de Nancy became internationally celebrated during the French Art Nouveau period.

France, circa 1910.

Height: 19 3/4 in. / approximately 50 cm.
