Large French 19th Century Marble Bust of a Woman – From Sorbonne University, Paris.
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA beautifully carved large, heavy marble bust of a woman with long flowing hair. Her dress is covering her shoulders with the fabric bunched up and tied in front and has a strap coming down from her shoulder to her waist. The marble sits upon a marble round plinth that allows the bust to be turned in any direction for best viewing.
The original owners say the bust was displayed at Sorbonne University in Paris and the students would rub her head for luck. The top of her head shows the patina worn from touching over the years.
Measures: 25 inches high x 20 inches wide x 12 inches deep.
