Leon Hatot “ATO” – French Glass Opalescent Clock – R. Lalique made for Hatot.

A superb Art glass opalescent Art Deco clock by Leon Hatot.  Hatot was a clockmaker making early electric clocks.

Trading under the name “ATO” from 1923, electric clocks were produced in Besançon in a partially rebuilt factory in the rue de la Rotonde. They were an immediate unprecedented success in the market place. At the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in 1925, Léon Hatot won a Grand Prix for a whole range of electric clocks, housed in marble, chrome, marquetry and fine wood cases, even in some instances in cases of moulded glass from the famous R.Lalique factories .

This clock in particular is quite a rare shape.  The electric works have been replaced by a modern battery operated works.

Measures:  14 1/4 inches wide x 8 1/2 inches high

Marked in the mold:  L. Hatot (on back left) & “Made in France” on back Right.  the Company name “ATO” appears on the front face of the clock.

The clock is in very good condition.
