Pair of Austrian Gilt Bronze & Cut Crystal Tall Candlesticks – circa 1900
GeneralAn elegant pair of tall Continental candlesticks, probably Austrian, combining finely cast gilt bronze with slender cut-crystal columns. Each candlestick is raised on a broad circular base richly decorated with overlapping acanthus leaves, patterned borders and finely chased ornament.
The faceted crystal stems are cut in a diamond pattern, creating a lively reflective surface and providing a striking contrast to the warm gilt-bronze mounts. The upper sections are modelled with classical urn-form details, foliate decoration and circular drip pans.
Dating to the late 19th century, this handsome pair has a refined Neo-Classical character and an impressive architectural presence.
