Pair of Japanese Makuzu Kozan Ceramic Vases in Relief with Birds and Branches. Late Meiji Period.

An exceptional pair of Japanese ceramic vases with relief decoration with 3 dimensional birds and branches. The maker Kozan Makuzu decorating in typical Satsuma style and colours. There are two labels on each bottom with a Japanese signature. One of the vases has an interior nest of birds that is dug out into the body of the vase. These are truly amazing works of art and and very difficult to create.
