The manufacturer, Coalport, is a historic English pottery company founded in 1795, by John Rose in the village of Coalport, Shropshire, England. The company quickly gained a reputation for high-quality English fine bone china and innovative production techniques. The company’s reputation was cemented by royal commissions. At the Great Exhibition of 1851, Coalport displayed an elaborate table service commissioned by Queen Victoria as a gift to Tsar Nicholas I of Russia.
