PorcelainsRoyal Worcester “Tusk Ice Jug” with Hand Painted Flowers – dated 1886
This Royal Worcester “Tusk Ice Jug” is shaped like a tusk with a round tapering body that slightly curves towards the spout. The shape number on the bottom #1116 refers to a “Tusk Ice Jug” in the Royal Worcester Catalogue. It comes in varying sizes. This one is large – measuring just under 12 inches tall.
The hand painted decoration goes around the entire jug in tones of rust red, olive green and steel blue coloured flowers – another grouping with the same red & green but with Violet coloured flowers and even another grouping with Pink coloured flowers. Delicate gold line work over the colourful florals & foliage elegantly highlights them all. The handle is reminiscent of an antler.
