Sterling Silver English Hallmarked Square Repousse Box w/ Hinged Lid, dated 1900.

This is a gorgeous English hallmarked repousse sterling silver square box with a hinged lid. The lid of the box depicts a jovial scene of 2 men playing checkers under the grape vine with a dog lying down in the foreground. Watching the men from a building doorway is a woman holding a child. The sides are decorated all around with an organic scroll design. The lid fits tightly into the base of the box. It has a gold washed interior.

Marked: Wheat sheaves for Chester and the letter R for 1900, as well as GN (George Nathan) over RH (Ridley Hayes). In addition, the box lid is signed G. Lieux.

Measures: 4 inches wide X 4 inches long X 1 1/2 inches high.

Weighs: 202 grams.
